The 2nd Annual IBA Asset Recovery Conference

Syed Rahman spoke at the 2nd Annual IBA Asset Recovery Conference.

The event, organised by the International Bar Association’s asset recovery committee, was held from December 4 to 6 at Hotel Riu Plaza España, Madrid.

Syed spoke on December 6, as part of a panel examining the ongoing impact of sanctions on enforcement. 

The panel was chaired by Karyn Harty, partner at Dentons, Ireland. Syed’s fellow panellists were Jean-Sebastien Bazille, partner at Gide, France; Hannah Blecha, partner at Schwärzler, Liechtenstein; Cathalijne Van der Plas, partner at JahaeRaymakers, Netherlands; and Maureen Ward, partner at Bennett Jones, Canada.

Other topics that were covered at the conference, include:

• Tracing, preserving and recovering unique and difficult classes of assets - maritime issues in asset recovery
