Aziz Rahman was invited to be the chair of a session at the Great Legal Futures Conference which was held in Miami.

Aziz presented the session called “Digital Assets: A global perspective from leading legal experts’’ at the conference, which ran from October 30 to November 3.

He addressed attendees, outlined the main themes of the discussion and spoke on some of the topics that were analysed by the panel at the November 1 session.

The panellists were:

• Drew Hinkes – Partner at US-based K and L Gates
• Al-Karim Makhani - Vice President of TransPerfect Legal Solutions
• Maureen M. Ward - Partner at Canada and New York-based Bennett Jones
• Daniel Stabile - Partner at Winston and Strawn

The panel spoke about a range of issues, including:

• Crypto, blockchain and machine learning.
• Compliance, regulation and reform.
• Asset recovery and litigation.
• Artificial Intelligence and the law.
• Hot topics in various jurisdictions.

The event was arranged by the UK Ministry of Justice and the Department for International Trade.

It explored the important role that lawtech plays in delivering efficient and effective solutions for legal services providers and outlined how it can boost productivity and revolutionise the way individuals and firms function.

The event brought together leading international arbitration specialists from around the world to discuss ways of providing the best possible services for clients in the UK, USA and other major markets.
