The School of International Financial Services’ Financial Crime Prevention and Compliance Bi-Annual Forum

Aziz Rahman spoke about sanctions at an international financial crime and compliance conference.

Rahman Ravelli’s senior partner was invited to be a guest speaker at the School of International Financial Services’ (SIFS) virtual 2023 Financial Crime Prevention and Compliance Bi-Annual Forum, in Guernsey, on 28 November. He gave a speech entitled “Sanctions: the word of 2022-23. Do they have the intended effect?’’

The event brings together professionals from the finance, regulatory, law enforcement and government sectors to discuss trends, challenges and the best practices in regulation, compliance and financial crime prevention. There were presentations from highly-respected industry experts and question and answer sessions.

As well as Aziz talking about sanctions, there were also sessions about:

• The UK government's 2021-23 financial crime strategy.
• Likely developments in regulation in 2023-24.
• Greenwashing.
• Recent regulatory fines and ensuring effective compliance.

Jersey-based SIFS is a provider of training and education for international finance centres. It hosts a range of events involving speakers who are industry experts, regulators or senior government or international law enforcement figures.
