REGISTRATION CLOSED Gary Orritt spoke at the FIRE International: Vilamoura three-day conference. The fraud, insolvency, recovery and enforcement event, organised by TL4 FIRE, was held at the Epic Sana Algarve Hotel from May 19 to 21, 2026. Gary spoke on the conference’s second day, at a session entitled “Fraud Involving Claims Against Banks – The Legal Position in the UK and Beyond’’. He and his fellow panellists explained how such claims are treated in each jurisdiction. They discussed issues including cross-border payments involving fraud, legal developments to prevent fraud, and the situation regarding other payment firms such as fintechs and crypto exchanges. Gary was joined on the panel by Bernhard Motal, partner at Liechtenstein’s Gasser Partner; Aniz Ahmad Amirudin, partner at Malaysia’s Cecil Abraham & Partners; and Rosanna Foskett, barrister at London’s Maitland Chambers.
