Angelika Hellweger was one of the expert speakers at the International Bar Association’s Litigating in the Middle East conference.

The event, which was held in Abu Dhabi on 9 and 10 February 2025, analysed the dispute resolution mechanisms available in the Middle East. It also examined the recognition and enforcement of judgments and the protection and recovery of assets under the laws of the different states.

Angelika was one of a number of leading lawyers talking about the latest developments across the region and what the future may hold for practitioners looking to make their mark in litigation across the Middle East.

She was part of a panel discussing practical considerations in international litigation. The chair of the panel was Jane Colston, partner at Brown Rudnick in London. Angelika’s fellow panellists were Sara Aalamri, partner at Jeddah’s AlGhazzawi and Partners; Abdulredha Al Lawati, founder of Oman’s ALC; Karim Nassif of Dubai’s Nassif Arbitration, and Chrysostomos Nicolaou, senior partner at Patrikios Legal in Cyprus.

Other panels considered issues such as navigating dispute resolution mechanisms, emerging trends in Middle East litigation, and the future of litigation in the Middle East.
