What disputes will digital asset providers face post-regulation in the UK and further afield?

Gary Orritt was one of the hosts of a breakfast discussion that examined the evolving landscape for digital asset providers (DAPs).

The event was held from 9am-10.30am on June 5, 2026, at Devonshire Terrace, Devonshire Square, Liverpool Street, London. It was part of London International Disputes Week.

The discussion covered matters including

• the injunction regime
• cryptoasset-related changes to the UK COBS (the FCA’s Conduct of Business Sourcebook) rules
• unenforceable contracts
• Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) claims
• cryptoassets in an insolvency situation, including current challenges in asset recovery
• jurisdictional trends and the potential for forum-shopping

This session was designed to explore the volatility of disputes and regulation in the digital asset space, the disputes currently being faced by DAPs, and the trends to be expected in UK crypto-related matters.
