A report by the Crown Prosecution Inspectorate says that the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) would benefit from major organisational changes

The report says that the SFO has improved since Director David Green took over in 2012. But it says that the SFO would be further enhanced by, among other things, a board restructuring, the appointment of a chief executive and a clearer risk management strategy.

SFO finance also comes under scrutiny in the report. The report says that the current system - whereby the SFO has a £35m annual budget but can apply for “blockbuster funding’’ for certain cases - hampers long-term planning, staffing and even its independence.
