The challenges of using AI as evidence in criminal proceedings was the subject of an online presentation by Angelika Hellweger.
In the presentation, which was for Policing TV, Angelika outlines the authenticity and integrity of digital data and the task of scrutinising and assessing AI evidence. She explains the chain of custody in AI evidence, the difficulties that defendants can face in challenging it, and its evaluation by judges.
Angelika also uses a case study to illustrate the risks of AI deepfakes and says how the issues surrounding AI can best be addressed.
