Hackney Council has begun a fraud investigation into alleged corrupt practices at one of its housing organisations.
The mayor, Jules Pipe, was contacted by a whistleblower who made allegations about misconduct at the council’s Hackney Homes.
Investigators are examining claims that senior staff abused funds and made decisions designed to benefit them and their associates rather than local residents.
