Author: Azizur Rahman 9 March 2022
Rahman Ravelli were invited to talk to 5 News about the effect so far of the UK’s approach to sanctions against Russia.
Rahman Ravelli who are sanctions experts, told the Channel 5 news programme that Britain could have moved faster in imposing sanctions on those with connections to the Russian regime, in the wake of the invasion of Ukraine.
Rahman Ravelli explained that as there has been “a bit of a lag’’ between the invasion starting and the UK introducing a sanctions bill – which is yet to be passed – the likely targets of the legislation have had time to react.
They have, according to Rahman Ravelli, had the opportunity to move their assets and make changes to ownership structures to try and stay ahead of any planned changes to the law that will affect them and their wealth.
