Halifax Courier - September 2010
A LEADING firm of solicitors is celebrating after making it into one of the most prestigious worldwide legal directories.
Halifax-based Rahman Ravelli Solicitors, which specialises in commercial fraud and complex crime cases, are now in the 'Legal 500'.
The directory, published for over 20 years, gives the most comprehensive worldwide coverage of legal firms in more than 100 countries.
Entry into it is widely viewed as being the ultimate worldwide acknowledgement of a legal firm's abilities and achievements and it is a regular reference point for the world's finance directors, chief executives, high-flying individuals and large corporations.
Aziz Rahman, managing partner at Rahman Ravelli, said: "Entry into the Legal 500 makes everyone at the company very proud. It is a just reward for the hard work that has been done here and the legal success that it has brought.
"This is a prestigious honour and we will continue to do it justice by giving our all for our clients."
Rahman Ravelli's entry comes in a year that has seen them succeed in a number of high-profile cases.
These include the case of Yorkshire property developer and former Leeds United FC director, Simon Morris.
Rahman Ravelli represented Mr Morris during a three-year investigation into his business dealings that ended with no charges being brought against him.
The firm also successfully defended Lincoln Fraser in a re-trial relating to the £250 million collapse of his Imperial Consolidated Investment Group.
Rahman Ravelli also dedicates some of its time to handling local people's legal problems on a no-fee, 'pro bono' basis.
Mr Rahman said: "The pro bono work is, in many ways, as important as the headline-grabbing cases. It helps us remain a part of the community."
