With the new government set to appoint a commissioner to claw back taxpayers’ money lost to pandemic-related fraud, Rahman Ravelli outlined the scale of the task.
In an article published by Solicitors Journal, Rahman Ravelli explain the Labour government’s plan to investigate how more than £7 billion was lost to fraud through the abuse of schemes such as the Small Business Grant Fund, furlough payments and the "Eat out to help out" campaign.
They say that the blame game over Covid fraud has been played out between political parties for years. But, they add,
“Labour is at least putting its money where its mouth was in the months prior to the election’’.
According to Rahman Ravelli, the government must now ensure the right person is given the job – and that they are given the resources necessary to do it.
