Rahman Ravelli Assesses the Possibility of the SFO Paying Whistleblowers

Rahman Ravelli stressed that, at this stage, the idea is purely hypothetical and that as the law stands the SFO cannot offer payments to whistleblowers.

They said that there may be a need to consider new legislation to “get past confidentiality agreements, as we have seen in the US, and protection from retaliation from employers”.

Rahman Ravelli have also explained that the Department for Business and Trade had been conducting a review of the country’s whistleblowing framework. This had been expected to be concluded by the end of last year.
