With the government having announced an anti-fraud squad as the latest weapon in the battle against Covid fraud, Rahman Ravelli examine the measures introduced so far.
In a piece published by LexisNexis, Rahman Ravelli outline the powers that the Cabinet Office’s Public Sector Fraud Authority (PSFA) would have and how they align with the Labour government’s aim of holding to account those who abused pandemic financial support schemes.
Rahman Ravelli explains the scale of Covid-related criminal activity. They argue that while the new powers being introduced may help regain fraudulently-obtained funds, it is now five years since the pandemic – plenty of time for those involved in wrongdoing to conceal their activities.
