With the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) having imposed fines totalling £124 million last year, Rahman Ravelli have assessed the situation.
In a piece, which was published by FT Adviser, Rahman Ravelli emphasises that the total amount of the fines “has to be a cause for some serious concern’’ and they say it could damage the UK’s reputation as one of the world’s financial capitals.
The article weighs up the government’s wish to see the UK financial sector grow and any possible moves towards “a more competitive environment’’ that could mean a reduction in regulation.
Rahman Ravelli also detail the behaviour that led to some of the biggest fines and concludes that the record for 2025 “does not paint a pretty portrait of the financial sector’’.
