The government’s consultation on proposed changes to the Money Laundering Regulations (MLRs) was the subject of an article by Rahman Ravelli.
In this piece, which was published by Solicitors Journal, Rahman Ravelli say that the consultation document, “Improving the effectiveness of the Money Laundering Regulations’’, is the result of HM Treasury’s wish to make anti-money laundering rules more proportionate for companies and their customers and to clarify when checks are needed.
They explain that the consultation is part of a wider programme of work aimed at reducing money laundering, as set out in the Economic Crime Plan 2023 to 2026.
Rahman Ravelli outline the background to the consultation. They conclude that it is difficult at this stage to assess what the impact of the consultation will be.
