With Graham McNulty having been appointed temporary head of the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), Rahman Ravelli have assessed the challenges he faces.
In a piece that was published by Thomson Reuters’ Regulatory Intelligence, Rahman Ravelli emphasised the issues McNulty will encounter as he takes over the SFO following Nick Ephgrave’s surprise departure.
The need to maintain the agency’s recent momentum, the effect of the government’s anti-corruption strategy and a number of high-profile cases coming to trial are some of the most notable maters that will require the Interim Director’s attention.
Rahman Ravelli also highlighted the government’s intention to remove juries from trials involving fraud and complex financial crime and the new failure to prevent fraud offence as areas that could place demands on the new person in the SFO hot seat.
