In an article that was published by LexisNexis, Rahman Ravelli explain the scope of European Union (EU) sanctions, the United States’ method of creating sanctions and the issues that corporates need to consider.
Their piece details the two-step process that the US uses to devise and impose sanctions and the “50% Rule’’, whereby sanctions can be extended to any property or asset in which someone has a 50% or more interest.
It also outlines how the EU makes decisions on the adoption, renewal or lifting of sanctions.
