Rahman Ravelli has again been ranked in the elite band of business crime solicitors by the Chambers and Partners UK Legal Guide.
The 2019 edition of Chambers also names Rahman Ravelli’s founder Aziz Rahman as a Star Individual and highlights the work of three of its associate solicitors, Nicola Sharp, Neil Williams and Syedur Rahman.
Classing Rahman Ravelli in its elite Band 1 group for financial crime - and highlighting its proceeds of crime and assets forfeiture work - Chambers says Rahman Ravelli has "exceptional lawyers", adding that "its client care is second to none and the quality of preparation is a particular strength." The Guide states that as a leading firm, Rahman Ravelli’s solicitors "deliver good results through their care, skill and hard work….they know the rules, the law and how to run a case very well."
Chambers goes on to describe Rahman Ravelli as: “National player with a network of offices housing fraud specialists. Diligent and effective defence counsel in high-profile prosecutions including those involving cross-border investment, carbon credit and mortgage frauds. Adept in money laundering, bribery and corruption cases. Also a well-known name in the related field of POCA work.’’
Aziz Rahman is described as a "brilliant lawyer" who is "phenomenally committed" to his clients. His proficiency in international financial crime matters, including fraud, corruption and money laundering cases, is emphasised by the Guide, which calls him "outstanding", "very talented" and "very astute’’ and adds "Aziz is very tactical - he is always looking several steps ahead."
Nicola Sharp is acknowledged for her wide-ranging knowledge of financial crime cases. She is described as "a highly capable lawyer who is completely at ease handling complex fraud and money laundering cases involving significant amounts of documentation."
Syedur Rahman receives praise for his expertise in POCA and asset forfeiture proceedings, with Chambers stating: "He leaves no stone unturned and he has a passion for what he does." Neil Williams is noted for his experience working on fraud cases, with Chambers saying "he knows his way around the case from back to front and has a real ability to marshal voluminous evidence."
Rahman Ravelli has been ranked in Chambers every year this decade. This latest ranking comes just days after Rahman Ravelli received similar top ranking in The Legal 500; the highly-respected international legal guide. The Legal 500 praised the firm’s expertise in a number of fields, including global and high-value cases and deferred prosecution agreements.
Aziz Rahman said of the Chambers success: “First and foremost, Rahman Ravelli is about using our expertise and experience to provide the very best, tailor-made representation for our clients.
“But when a respected legal guide such as Chambers recognises this - and continues to recognise it year after year by giving us consistently high rankings - it is certainly very pleasing.’’
