Rahman Ravelli hosts webinar on Russian sanctions

Sanctions imposed on Russia and their effect on those with Russian business links were the focus of a Rahman Ravelli webinar.

“Navigating Russian Sanctions: The Lessons to Be Learned’’ was held online. Expert panellists detailed the sanctions and their impact.

High-level case studies were used to illustrate and analyse key sanctions-related issues being faced by those around the world that have business connections to Russia. The panellists offered guidance on how to identify and respond to sanctions on Russia that the UK, European Union, United States and Switzerland have introduced.

The webinar was held for UK, EU, Swiss and US companies that have connections to Russia, their Russian counterparts and firms that have a Russian shareholding structure. It was also designed to be of use to law firms around the world who are managing the impact of sanctions for clients.

The webinar addressed the following issues:

• How to navigate the UK, EU, Swiss and US jurisdictions.
• Assessing the impact of having a designated person within the structure of a corporate.
• Applying for a licence to conduct activity prohibited by sanctions.
• Reporting sanctions matters to the authorities.
• The effect of sanctions on various business and professional sectors – and how those effects can be managed.
• How law firms handling sanctions matters can assess and mitigate the risks.
