Rahman Ravelli has once more been ranked as one of the very best corporate crime law firms by the Chambers and Partners UK Legal Guide.
The 2020 edition of Chambers praises the firm’s work in some of the UK’s most significant investigations, placing it in its elite Band 1 group for financial crime. Chambers also pays tribute to the firm for its work on cases involving the Proceeds of Crime Act and asset forfeiture; repeatedly highlighting its high court civil recovery expertise and its vast experience of challenging National Crime Agency actions in the civil court.
The guide says that Rahman Ravelli provides: “Diligent and effective defence counsel in high-profile prosecutions, including those involving cross-border investment’’ and highlights the firm’s experience and ability in money laundering, global bribery and corruption and serious fraud cases.
Comments in the guide about the firm include “There is no one from this firm that I have worked with who is not absolutely outstanding’’ and “they know the law and their work rate is outstanding.’’
Chambers draws special attention to the work of Rahman Ravelli’s founder Aziz Rahman and its three legal directors, Nicola Sharp, Neil Williams and Syedur Rahman.
Classing Aziz Rahman, once again, as a star individual, Chambers says: “He demonstrates enviable expertise in financial crime issues, including money laundering and bribery.’’ It says he is “really someone you want in your corner if you’re in trouble with the Serious Fraud Office’’, “a great lawyer in all aspects’’ and a solicitor with “notable experience in criminal and civil recovery proceedings’’ who has a “tremendous hands-on approach’’.
Nicola Sharp is described as an associate to watch. Chambers says: “She’s excellent. An absolute first-rate solicitor. She’s got a great way with clients and she’s great at identifying the real issues.’’ Neil Williams is also highlighted as an associate to watch and called “an excellent lawyer.’’
Syedur Rahman’s national and international asset recovery expertise is praised by Chambers, which compliments his “thoroughness and eagerness’’ and states that he is “very committed’’.
Rahman Ravelli has been ranked in Chambers every year this decade. This latest ranking comes just two weeks after Rahman Ravelli was again given top ranking in the highly-respected international legal guide, The Legal 500. The Legal 500 said the firm stands out because of its ability in white-collar crime, corporate crime, tax and money laundering cases and its experience and expertise when it comes to global investigations and deferred prosecution agreements.
Aziz Rahman said: “Everyone single person at Rahman Ravelli is driven by the pursuit of achieving the very best outcome for our clients. They do that because they have a passion and a determination to do everything possible for those we represent.
“It is not done to gain praise or awards. But I have to say that it is very pleasing for everyone at Rahman Ravelli that such a prestigious and respected guide as Chambers keeps recognising and highlighting the quality of our work.’’
