Rahman Ravelli once again given top ranking by The Legal 500

Rahman Ravelli’s high-calibre lawyers and international achievements have been highlighted in the latest edition of The Legal 500.

The 2024 edition of the international legal guide, which has just been published, again names Rahman Ravelli as an elite firm.

The Legal 500 focuses on Rahman Ravelli’s “wealth of legal talent’’ and its expertise in multi-jurisdictional investigations spanning the UK, Europe, US, Africa, and Asia. It praises the firm’s recent achievements in white-collar crime and its work advising clients on complex sanctions, cryptocurrency fraud and ESG-related financial crime matters.  

The guide also cites Rahman Ravelli’s expertise in civil recovery proceedings, multi-jurisdictional civil fraud claims and worldwide asset recovery cases. It emphasises the firm’s international sanctions experience.

The Legal 500 says: “Many firms advertise themselves as having an international presence, but Rahman Ravelli genuinely does. Rahman Ravelli are an exceptional firm and leaders in this field. They have a wealth of legal talent and are involved in some of the biggest cases.

The Legal 500 names seven Rahman Ravelli solicitors as being among the very best in their fields; including senior partner Aziz Rahman, who is classed as an elite individual.

It calls Aziz a “brilliant tactician’’,  “a true leader and exceptionally talented white-collar crime solicitor’’ and a “clear and focused driving force behind the firm, always seeming to identify and fulfil client needs’’.

It adds: “His skill in leading and managing legal teams, both in the UK and overseas, through all stages of a case has been proven to produce the strongest bespoke defence for the corporates, executives and ultra-high net worth individuals that are his clients.’’

Nicola Sharp, a partner at Rahman Ravelli, is praised for her extensive track record in handling major financial investigations. The Legal 500 calls her “a star quality operator who provides the best service to her clients’’ and “ a truly great commercial litigator. Very brave and hard working.’’

Fellow partner Syed Rahman is recommended for both his sanctions achievements and his pioneering work in cryptocurrency fraud. Partner Niall Hearty is described as “both client-focused and an outstanding lawyer, tactically astute and with an approachable and affable manner that makes working with him a delight.’

The Guide also praises Angelika Hellweger and Zulfi Meerza for their experience and expertise in economic crime and regulatory matters. It calls Zulfi Meerza  “bright and with a great future’’.
