Rahman Ravelli has secured the acquittal of Olatimbo Ayinde on both charges following a six-month trial at Southwark Crown Court.
Ms Ayinde faced one charge of bribery under section 1 of the Bribery Act 2010 and one charge of bribing a foreign public official under section 6 of the Act.
The verdicts bring to an end proceedings that began with her arrest by the National Crime Agency in 2017, following a case involving complex legal and factual issues, extensive evidence and detailed scrutiny of the investigation.
The defence included evidence relating to Ms Ayinde’s role as a whistle-blower. Confirmation was obtained from the Nigerian authorities that she had acted in that capacity, while the defence also examined whether all reasonable lines of enquiry had been pursued during the investigation.
The jury found Ms Ayinde not guilty on both counts on 17 June 2026. All three defendants in the proceedings were acquitted on all charges.
